It's my lucky day! I got some of my pictures from the first week on my USB drive, so I can bore you all with more pictures! Exciting! These are from last Tuesday. We started at Gloucester Cathedral, which is where they tape a lot of the scenes at Hogwarts in the Harry Potter movies.
After that, we went to Kennilworth Castle, another awesome castle. We got a tour inside the gate house, which was refurbished for Queen Elizabeth by Robert Dudley, who was in love with her and wanted to marry her, but couldn't (sad! The poor guy went to a crapload of effort, like building a freaking castle, only to be rejected).
Next stop was Stratford, home of William Shakespeare. Before seeing King Lear, we wandered around the town, including going to the church where he is buried. His tomb is pretty awesome; his epitaph says: "Good friend for Jesus sake, forbear to dig the dust enclosed here. Blest be ye man that spares these stones and cursed be he that moves my bones." Nice! Stratford is a very cool town.
(Someone had a boat named Lothlorien. My Lord of the Rings nerdiness was appeased)
Okay, so does anyone more familiar with blogging know how I can put pictures up next to each other rather than one at a time in a column? Also, anyone know how I get the posts to show only part of each post on the home page with a read more option? My blog is getting obnoxious.
To shorten them you put in a jump break. Just click where you want your post to end before the "read more" link appears and insert the jump break..it's an option on the little editing bar.
ReplyDeleteP.S. your picture of the flowers in the foreground with the castle was very "opening shot for a Jane Austen film"-esque
